May is National Walking Month

Walk this May! 💚
This National Walking Month, so let’s take a step in the right direction! It’s never too late to start!🚶♀️
Walking more, even for short trips, can boost your mood and improve your health. Why not walk to work, school or the shops this week? Every step counts. 👣
Being active is one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your health and wellbeing.
The good news is, it doesn’t have to cost anything. Walking is a great example – it’s free, easy to start, and can make a real difference.
In Staffordshire, there are plenty of local walking routes and community activities to help you move more. You can find these through Staffordshire Connects or the Activity Finder.
Regular physical activity can lift your mood, help manage your weight, and reduce the risk of serious health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and mental health problems. Even small movements, like stretching or chair-based exercises, can boost your circulation and support overall wellbeing.
If you’re looking for a little extra help, there are free apps such as Active 10 and Couch to 5K, as well as NHS exercise videos for all abilities. Community events like Parkrun also offer a fun and friendly way to get involved.
No matter your age or ability, it’s never too late to get moving and feel the benefits.
