Joan Williams Award Winner
Congratulations to Helena
A massive congratulations to Helena Plater, who was presented with our Joan Williams Civic Award at our Annual Meeting of the Parish Council! She was chosen by our Councillors due to her outstanding contribution to village life over the last year. 🏆
Helena dedicates the majority of her free time to litter-picking, clearing almost 300 bags of rubbish in the last year! In the process, she regularly clears our streets of alcohol bottles and nitrous oxide canisters, which she reports to District Council to inform their meetings with the Police.
Helena is also an active member of BKV and can be found in all weathers clearing pathways and roadsides, cutting back trees and bushes and caring for the planters in and around the village. She has been a great help to the Parish Council in setting up the Civic Centre for Dinner Dances and clearing away after the Wombourne Pantomimes, Carnival and Christmas Lights Switch On.
Helena is always happy to quietly roll up her sleeves and gets stuck in, taking great pride in everything she does. Her efforts make Wombourne a brighter, cleaner place for all, so if you see her out and about make sure you say hello and thank you! 🙏
Well done, Helena! 😁
