New History Centre Open!
Calling all Historians!
The Staffordshire History Centre is set to become a must-visit destination for history lovers, families and curious minds alike! Located in the heart of Stafford in Eastgate Street, this new heritage attraction will bring over 1,000 years of Staffordshire’s rich history to life, with something for everyone to enjoy.
• Explore Our Fascinating Collections: The new centre combines collections from the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archive Service, the County Museum, and the William Salt Library, making it a treasure trove of artefacts and stories. Whether you’re passionate about local history or just want to discover something new, there’s plenty to explore.
• A New Visitor Experience: The beautifully restored William Salt Library building, along with the modern extension, creates an inspiring space where history and innovation meet. The new exhibition space will feature changing displays, allowing visitors to discover new stories from Staffordshire’s past on every visit.
• Family-Friendly Activities: We’ve made sure the Staffordshire History Centre offers something for everyone, including younger visitors! Expect exciting activities, interactive exhibits, and school holiday events that will bring history to life for families.
• Research and Learn: The remodelled research room is perfect for local historians, genealogists, and anyone interested in exploring Staffordshire’s archives. Whether you’re tracing your family tree or diving into academic research, the centre will provide the resources you need.
