New Parking Pilot to combat inconsiderate parking
Wombourne Parking Pilot
From tomorrow – Monday 4th March – a new pilot scheme will be running in Wombourne to monitor on-street parking (not car parks) to assess when cars are parked inconsiderately and whether intervention is required.
Residents can email photos to South Staffordshire Council of what they consider to be inconsiderate parking. The perceived inconsiderate parking must meet the following criteria and photos will be triaged by the Council before further action, if any, is taken by the Police:
- The vehicle does not allow enough pavement space for access by a wheelchair or pushchair
- The vehicle is parked within 10 metres of a junction
- The vehicle does not allow space on the road for an emergency vehicle to pass by
- The vehicle is parked on double yellow lines
Note – The vehicle registration mark must be clearly visible on the photograph(s)
When taking photographs, please do not put yourself in a confrontational situation.
Email your photographs to parkingpilot@sstaffs.gov.uk and include:
- Your name
- Location where the photographs were taken (be specific as possible)
- Date and time the photos were taken
- How long the vehicle was inconsiderably parked (if known)
The aims of this pilot are to reduce the number of vehicles parking inappropriately, improve safety for pedestrians in Wombourne, gain evidence for possible County Council interventions (e.g. double yellow lines, parking restrictions signs) and to educate drivers to understand inconsiderate parking.
The pilot will run for 3 months and we hope will address some of the recent concerns residents have had around inconsiderate parking in the village.
