Wolves Christmas Soccer School

Get sporty this Christmas!

Wolves Soccer School is holding indoor soccer sessions at Wombourne Leisure Centre for children from Year 1 to Year 7. The Christmas sessions are running as 2-day courses, which are being held on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd January 2025, costing £45. ⚽️

Wombourne Civic Centre is now taking bookings for 2025 and 2026!

We have availability all year round for family celebrations, but if you’re looking for the perfect place to have a summer wedding we have lots of availability in July and August! 👰 Our beautiful function suites can be hired for your wedding breakfast and/or an evening reception. We also offer our own in-house bar with super friendly staff, a large car-park and a spacious dancefloor with a sparkly glitterball! Go Green for the Samaritans

Light Up The Longest Night! 💛

On Saturday 21st December, the longest night of the year, South Staffordshire Council are inviting residents and businesses across Staffordshire to light up their windows or buildings in green. This simple act is to show support for those who may be struggling and to remind everyone that help is available.
 
The campaign is run in partnership with the Samaritans, who are available to listen 24/7, 365 days a year.
You can pick up free posters and tealights at all Staffordshire libraries.
 
Don’t forget to share photos of your green-lit displays and windows on social media using the hashtag #LightUpTheNight.
 
If you need someone to talk to, you can contact Samaritans anytime, for free, on 116 123.

Winter Reading Challenge

What is the Winter Mini Challenge?📚

A great confidence booster! The Winter Mini Challenge is a fun online challenge that encourages children to keep up their reading across the Winter months. This year the Winter Mini Challenge runs from 20th February.
 
It’s free to take part on wintermini.org.uk, where children can collect rewards for logging and reviewing books. Whatever your interest, it all counts.
 
Taking part is simple. Children read at least three books of their choice in the winter holidays and add them to their online profile. Reaching their online reading goal will unlock a limited-edition virtual badge and a special Winter Mini Challenge certificate to print off and keep.
 
Staffordshire Libraries are filled with seasonal and other books for children to borrow over the Christmas holidays and we have lots of great eBooks and eAudios available on the Borrowbox App or via our eLibrary:

Office Closing for Christmas

Christmas Closure

Our Parish Council Office at Wombourne Civic Centre will be closed for two weeks from Monday 23rd December for the Christmas break. It will re-open in the New Year on Monday 6th January. We wish all our residents a very Merry Christmas! 🎅

Ward Walk Reminder

Keep a look-out for your Councillors

Just a friendly reminder following last week’s post that there will be a Ward Walk taking place tomorrow, Saturday 14th December, between 10.30am and midday. This is where your Councillors will walk around their wards, ready to discuss any issues with residents. They should be easily recognisable by wearing their Parish Councillor badges.
