High Street Boost Programme

Calling all Wombourne retailers!

South Staffordshire Council are thrilled to launch their new High Street Boost programme. Offering a transformative initiative designed to propel all independent village centre based businesses in South Staffordshire, to new heights. You are invited to one of their dynamic launch events, where you’ll gain valuable insights through business and retail workshops. Engage with interactive sessions led by experienced retail experts, discover tips and strategies that separate exceptional retailers from the average and learn from award winning experts who’ve been where you are and know the path to success.
 
There is a session in the Council Chamber building at Wombourne Civic Centre on Wednesday 13th November from 5.30pm – 7:00pm.
 
Following the workshops their programme offers personalised, fully funded, one-to-one support ensuring you get the targeted assistance you need directly at your business premises. Their mentors are award-winning professionals with real-world experience and a track record of success.

Christmas Windows!

🎅 Christmas is coming! 🎅

If you own a front-facing business in Wombourne then you’re very welcome to take part in this year’s Best Dressed Christmas Window Competition! Simply decorate your window and pop in this poster to be part of it. Chairman, Vince Merrick, and Vice Chairman, Martin Perry, will be round the week beginning Monday 18th November for judging, so make sure you’re all ready! The winner will be announced the following week at the Wombourne Lights Switch On on Friday 29th November. Let’s make Wombourne festive! 😁 You can also find this image in the News on our website:

Christmas Craft Fair

Our Christmas Craft Fair is back in the Council Chamber building on the Civic Centre car-park this year. It starts at 11am and closes at 2pm on Small Business Saturday 7th December, so please pop along and support our crafty stallholders! They will have lots of hand-made Christmas goodies for you all and entry is FREE! 😁

Guide Hall Fundraiser

Have you seen the latest fundraising event for the Guide Hall?

All the profits are going towards the essential repairs to the roof and ceiling, so they would very much appreciate your support with winter on the way. The Crag band are a local group, who perform traditional folk music, along with some lively songs you can join in with and a few pop favourites. Are you aged 66+ and on a low income?

Would you welcome extra money and support with heating costs?

Pension Credit is worth, on average, £3,900 per year and unlocks additional support including Winter Fuel Payment, help with council tax, NHS dental care and for those over 75, a free TV licence.
Thanks to the Pension Credit backdating rules, it is possible to apply for Pension Credit and have the claim backdated by up to 3 months – so long as there is entitlement during that time.
This means that the latest date to apply and still qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment is 21st December 2024. Find out more at www.gov.uk/pensioncredit
