Upcoming Good Food & Drinks Guide

Find out how to be part of it today!

South Staffordshire Council are delighted to announce the launch of their new Good Food & Drinks Guide to showcase the best of the district and boost visitor numbers. 🍽🍹
 
South Staffordshire has wide variety hospitality venues, offering diners a range of experiences from small independent cafés to fine dining award winning restaurants, unique pubs and independent bars. The council are dedicated to enhancing the tourism experience within South Staffordshire, creating a Good Food and Drink Guide will highlight the choice of venues and provide a unique opportunity for businesses to showcase and promote their offerings and dining experiences to a larger target audience.
 
The project was successfully secured by Staffordshire-based Outlands Creative, who will be working with the council to deliver this exciting new project.
 
Local eateries are encouraged to participate in this exciting initiative by expressing their interest to be featured using the link below. Space is limited so submit your business as soon as possible by completing the short application here:

Meet Your New MP

Meet Mike Wood MP

Your new MP, Mike Wood, is looking forward to meeting you and hearing your views. As part of his ‘Summer Tour’, he will be running a series of pop-up surgeries to give residents the opportunity to raise any issues. Mike will be in Wombourne twice next week at the following locations should you wish to speak to him.

Stay Safe

South Staffordshire Police are investigating car thefts in the Wombourne area where drivers of stationary vehicles have been approached and their cars stolen. South Staffordshire Community Safety Partnership suggests you keep your vehicle locked when stopping at traffic lights, dial 999 if you see anyone acting suspiciously and drive away to a place of safety as soon as you can. 🚗
 
Staffordshire Police are committed to deter car thieves with more than 120 arrests in the County since 2022. 👮

You may, or may not, be aware that my Chairman’s Charity this year is actually three – Papyrus, Staffordshire Blood Bikes and South Staffordshire First Responders. I will be putting on a number of charity fundraisers across the year, but already in the diary is a Sky Dive I will undertake in August (hoping it doesn’t get delayed by the weather…). So for this, you don’t need to purchase tickets, get dressed up, come to an event or anything like that – just make a donation to some very worthy causes! Summer Reading Challenge

☀️ Summer Reading Adventure ☀️

Beware of the Summer Slide! 🛝 The Little Book Nook believe summer reading is critical to a child’s development. On average a child will loose 17-34% of that year’s learning during the summer. 😮
🌈 Together, you can make sure your child stays on track with their Summer Reading Adventure, plus you can get lots of lovely books for free to enjoy!
🌈 The Summer Reading Adventure runs for two weeks, challenging your child to read as much as they can in that time, whilst collecting sponsors for doing so (all resources given for free!)
🌈 The sponsorship money allows them to choose any books they would like from our 3,000+ titles books, plus depending on amount raised, Little Book Nook will give them free books too!

Wombourne In Bloom Trophy

Well deserved winners!

Congratulations to the Old Bush once again for winning this year’s Wombourne in Bloom competition. Our Chairman, Vince Merrick, presented the landlord and landlady, Richard and Debbie, with their well-deserved trophy at last night’s Full Council meeting. Make sure you pop along to view their lovely displays! 💐 We look forward to everyone taking part again next year! 🏆

Young Gym-Goers!

Make the most of your local gym

Young people aged 13-15 can use the gym at Wombourne Leisure Centre independently during supervised ‘Active Youth’ sessions. They can also use the gym outside of these times when accompanied by a participating parent/guardian. 💪😄
