Summer Reading Challenge
Calling all 4–11-year-olds, parents, carers and teachers!
Get ready for the Summer Reading Challenge, ‘Marvellous Makers’, arriving at your local Staffordshire library this Summer on 6th July!
Developed in partnership with Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need it most, this year’s Challenge aims to fire up children’s imaginations and unleash storytelling and creativity through the power of reading.
Children aged 4-11 are invited to set a reading goal and collect rewards for their reading. It’s FREE to take part and last year 75% of children taking part improved their reading skills over the holidays.
Why should my child sign up?
• They will be better prepared to return to school in the autumn.
• The Challenge supports the move into a new year group.
• Becoming more independent in their reading boosts children’s confidence and self-esteem.
• The library provides free access to books and fun family activities all through the summer.
• Library staff are on hand to offer support and book recommendations.
• Your child will be part of a UK-wide programme developed by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with the public library network.

In addition, we will also be offering the Mini-Challenge for pre-school aged children from our libraries. The Mini Challenge is a bite sized version of the Summer Reading Challenge for our youngest readers. Children collect stickers on a special collector card for the books they borrow and read.

Shop Front Grant Scheme

South Staffordshire Council have established a ‘shop front’ grant scheme to support and sustain existing businesses in the village centres, this grant will help to improve the look and feel of our village centres, making those shops more attractive to passing visitors and local residents increasing trade and footfall.
The Shop Front Grant is available to independent retail and hospitality businesses and property owners in South Staffordshire’s village centres to improve their shop front or to bring vacant premises back into use.
The objective of the grant is to support traders and the local economy as well as improving the retail environment for shoppers, residents, and visitors.

New Gym Equipment
Grand Opening of the new exercise equipment at Brickbridge Playing Fields! 😁
Come and join your Parish Councillors at Brickbridge Playing Fields for the official opening of our brand new exercise equipment! It’s happening at 11am on Saturday 13th July.
Here are our energetic Councillors Martin Perry and Daisy Tait modelling our four pieces of equipment, supervised by Duke the dog! This equipment is free and already available for all local residents to use, so get down to Brickbridge and try it out today!

2. Any persons interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounts to be audited and all books, deeds, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them. For the year ended 31st March 2024 these documents will be available on reasonable notice on application to:

3. Local Government Electors and their representatives also have:
- the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounts; and
- the right to make objections to the accounts or any item in them. Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Authority (f).
The auditor can be contacted at the address in paragraph 4 below for this purpose during the inspection period at 2 above.
